Michael,

The script should create the file anyway, even if you do not upload it.

Carlos double check the permission of your posts folder

Posted by CarlosAugust 07, 2011 - 12:50 am
Have got the guestbook to only partially work. Still testing it out, but when I post a comment, only that comment shows up on the guestbook page. When I try to post a second comment, that replaces the first comment, so only one comment shows up at a time, which is the last one posted.
Also, in the admin section, I cannot see any comments under 'delete/edit'.

you control most of these with CSS. The CSS file is in the styles folder, guestbook.css and posts.css. The name of the classes should be self-explanatory. You can see the exact html used to format the posts in admin/configuration, posts template box. The html for the form is in the guestbook html file itself. However editing the CSS files should be all you need. Have fun!

Hi Andrea,

Have changed the background color everywhere to black. How do I now change the color of the text to white?? Specifically the input text in the form, also the text color of the posts below, also the text color of 'home page' etc.??
thanks again!

Posted by harishAugust 03, 2011 - 09:38 am
thanks Andrea, you're a genius! Had the posts file name as posts/posts.txt instead of just posts.txt.
Worked like a charm. You're brilliant!!

Now I just need to customize it by changing the colors etc..

thanks!!!

Harish, was the posts.txt file created into the posts folder? Check this out and let me know. Also despite the fact that in admin/configuration you have the option of changing the posts file name, this is kind of buggy, I suggest you leave it to default.

Hi Andrea, thanks for this script, love it.

Have a problem though, gone through the forum as well as archives, hope you can help.

Have gone through the whole forum, have tried setting permissions for the 'posts' folder to 777 and also 755, with the same result.

Can you please help?? thanks a lot!

In the beginning sight the solution seems very obvious - they're cheaper. Not to mention that maybe true. But in fact Eastern European locks are not that much more expensive - the amount necessary to make a good wig is about 30-50 USD in Poland or Czech Republic. That is not a fortune if you are going to spend several $ 100 on the full mono wigs. So what exactly is the catch?

This is another email, with gmail. I will send from here from now on, maybe it will work better.

bjp, I replied however after a couple of days the e-mail came back as undelivered.

Not sure how to communicate with you reliably. Looks like your provider has some strong filters in place. Do you have a different address? My time is limited unfortunately, can't spend it fighting against your spam filters.

Thanks bjp

Andrea, good news! I talked to tech support at my host and he suggested I try using permission 755 on the guestbook page file. This worked! If someone tries to use the guestbook on .php pages and they get the same 500 server error I did, try setting the gbook page to 755. The script seems to work fine.

Hi bjp, I replied to your e-mail yesterday. Please check your spam folder. This was my message anyway:

Hi bjp, try to reupload the php_guestbook.php but this time instead of leaving "automatic" file type selection in the FTP software, select an option to upload the file as bin file. If this does not work try to upload as text file.

Let me know.

Best Regards,

Andrea

Hello Jack
1 yes: put the form where you want and point the action to the php_guestbook.php file. The javascript for the ajax verification should stay in the same page as the form.

Then set the page where the posts will end up as guestbook page in admin. This second page (the one with the posts) has to be located in the same folder as the php_guestbook.php script (the guestbook folder).

2 just edit the html of the form as you wish.

Hello. I love your product. Very good installation instructions. I have 2 questions:
1.- Is it possible to show the posts in a separate page called "posts" for example, instead of the form page?
2.- How do we change the colors on the form?

Thank you.
