- All our scripts, including the WCS were tested on linux
and windows server environments with PHP 4.3
or higher compiled with GD image library support (most web hosts and standard php installations have this).
The GD library is the standard image handling library and it is required
to use the captcha feature of the software.
For the WCS to work properly, PHP SAFE MODE should be turned OFF on the server, as the script needs to create new directories and then subdirectories and files within those directories, which is prevented by PHP safe mode if this is active on the server.
- Note on windows systems:
although most installs on windows servers work flawlessly, in some rare cases
you might experience problems in granting the correct file
permissions to some files and/or folders. To be on the safe side you might
want to investigate with your hosting provider if they expect any problems
in granting a folder or file write permission by a web process (php script in this
here an interesting discussion on windows servers permissions and
on how to deal at best with your provider should you need to "negociate" your
permissions issues. To test for potential issues you can download the free
